Love or hate lasers, they're here to stay. Viridian, a name well recognized in the industry, released the only trigger mounted green laser for the Springfield Armory XDS as part of their REACTOR series. Named the R5 XDS, the laser is instantly activated upon drawing (when used with the included holster) so there isn't any fumbling with switches or rockers. They call this ECR, which stands for Enhanced Combat Readiness.

Here's what they have to say about it:

“Our customers spoke and we listened.” said Viridian President Brian Hedeen. He continued, “Our rail-mounted C5L fits the XDS perfectly. Yet our fans wanted the smallest, lightest green laser possible for their XDS and we delivered.”
The Viridian R5-XDS is a complete carry package with a belt holster included. Constructed of leather and polymer, it offers the best of both worlds. Additional holster options are available from many leading holster manufacturers.

The R5 features a 5mW peak green laser that has a battery life of 1 hour with constant use or 2 hours on pulse. It also has an automatic shutdown (in case you inadvertently leave it on) and a low battery indicator. MSRP is listed at $239. For more information or to purchase, you can contact Viridian here.
