Gear Pro Series 5: 12-Gauge Mag Conversion Kit from Black Aces Recoil Staff April 17, 2013 0 Comments Black Aces Tactical, a custom shotgun accessory company from Florida, is working on a revolutionary magazine conversion kit for standard model, tubular magazine 12-gauge shotguns. Designed to take Saiga 12 magazines (including drums), Black Aces advises the installation process is simple, quick and requires no specialized tools. The shooter will still utilize his own trigger group, barrel, forend and stock, but the tube will be there only for the forend and barrel. (Images are of a converted Mossberg 500.) The company is currently producing prototypes for Mossberg 500/590, Remington 870, Maverick 88, Mossberg 930 and the Remington 1100. The receiver is designed to allow one-handed magazine ejection. With the Black Aces receiver the latch is flipped and the spring-loaded magazine is pushed free. Each kit (Patent Pending) will contain the following: Pro Series Receiver New hardened firing Pin New hardened bolt New hardened slide Magwell bridge Magazine latch Feed ramp Latch spring, bridge pins and detailed instructions Replacement magazine tube (870 and 1100 only) Steel buffer tube threaded insert (930 only) The kit is a receiver and will require an FFL to ship to. Although the prototypes have been rigorously tested, over the coming weeks Black Aces has engaged veteran firearms instructor Matt Jacques of Victory First to perform additional T&E. He will literally walk into a firearms store, purchase two shotguns, attempt the conversion and then put them through their paces on the range – exactly the same as the end user will do, without any special preparation or tools. http://youtu.be/1jZNLg9lq94 Black Ace Tactical will not be doing any conversion work or selling shotguns, they will only be manufacturing and selling the kits. They are posting frequent updates and more information on their Facebook page.
