Have some questions about Aero Precision? We gotcha some answers. Aero Precision Products Q. DO YOU MAKE YOUR OWN COMPONENTS IN HOUSE? A. We manufacture most parts in house, including upper receivers, lower receivers, handguards, scope mounts, and various other pieces. Our barrels are manufactured at our partner company Ballistic Advantage. Q. ARE YOUR RECEIVERS FORGED OR CAST? A. Our receivers are machined from 7075 T6 aluminum forgings. Q. WHAT BRAND OF FORGINGS DO YOU USE? A. We use several different sources but our forgings are primarily from Anchor Harvey and Cerro. We have found both of them to offer the highest quality forgings. Q. CAN YOU MAKE LOWERS WITH MY COMPANY NAME ON THEM? A. We can do variance lower receivers. Our minimum order is 1000 lowers. ATF approval for variance lowers usually takes 2-3 months, but we handle the paperwork. There are also no setup charges, just the cost per lower receiver. Please contact us if you are interested in variance lowers. Q. DO YOUR UPPERS HAVE M4 FEED RAMPS? A. Our standard uppers do but we have received enough requests that we do offer some without them. Q. WHAT ARE YOUR BOLT CARRIERS MADE OUT OF? WHAT ARE THE BOLTS MADE OUT OF? A. Our standard bolt carriers are made from 8620 tool steel. The gas key is made from 4140 and it is properly staked. Both the carrier and key are chrome lined. The bolt is made from Carpenter 158 steel and it is high pressure tested (HPT) and magnetic particle inspected (MPI). Both are phosphate coated. Q. ARE YOUR BARRELS CHROME-LINED? WHY NOT? A. Our barrels are QPQ coated which stand for quench, polish, then quench again to ensure the entire barrel is coated. It is a salt-bath nitride, which provides for a longer barrel life than chrome-line. The barrel extensions are installed but not torqued to spec until after the QPQ process is complete, to ensure the extension will not come loose. The QPQ process has shown to have much better resistance to throat erosion than chrome lining, without affecting accuracy. Q. ARE YOU GOING TO COME OUT WITH A LONGER COP MONOLITHIC UPPER? A. Our rifle-length COP is slated to be release this winter, most likely in the November/December time frame. Q. WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE MINIMALIST AND THE FULL KIT FOR THE COP UPPERS? A. The minimalist kits only come with the 3 rail sections, which is the minimum amount need to assemble the upper. The full kit come with all the rail sections we offer. There are 8 rails for the carbine and 10 rails for the mid length. Q. WHAT ARE YOU SCOPE MOUNTS MADE OUT OF? HOW HIGH DO THEY SIT? A. Our scope mounts are made from 6061, since 7075 is not required. The centerline of the optic sits at 1.5” above the rails, which is standard co-witness height on an AR15. Q. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE STANDARD SCOPE MOUNT AND THE EXTENDED SCOPE MOUNT? A. The extended scope mount has the rear ring pushed forward 1” for better eye relief. – See more at: http://aeroprecisionusa.com/ap/faq/#sthash.cqjMeLPJ.dpuf Explore RECOILweb:Magazine Multiplier: Mossberg 590MTitanium Aero EDC MultitoolSmaller is Better; Remington's new 20-Gauge TAC-14 shotgunBest Gun Safe Dehumidifiers [2023] NEXT STEP: Download Your Free Target Pack from RECOILFor years, RECOIL magazine has treated its readers to a full-size (sometimes full color!) shooting target tucked into each big issue.
