The American Battle Monuments Commission Honors Them All

The American Battle Monuments Commission was established in 1923 by the United States Congress to care for the graves of over 125,000 American war dead in addition to nearly 100,000 individuals commemorated on the Tablets of the Missing. The Commission manages 25 memorials, monuments nad markers and oversees 24 overseas military cemeteries. Most are built to commemorate the service and sacrifice of those who fought in the two World Wars. Today the ABMC held Memorial Day ceremonies around the world, at cemeteries in England, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, the Philippines, Panama and Mexico.
