Industry News: Ammunition Watch I: 3 New Rounds for your Review 1. Gold Medal Grand for Clays. Anoka, MN based Federal Premium Ammunition has new competition clay target ammunition: their Gold Medal Grand, in 10 different loads. Read what they tell us below. Federal Premium Ammunition is pleased to announce a new load in its Gold Medal shotshell lineup. For decades, Gold Medal shotshells have set the standard—and world records—for competitive trap, skeet and sporting clays shooters. For 2017, Federal Premium improved upon the industry-leading design with Gold Medal Grand. Shipments will be delivered to dealers in January. The new shotshells, offered in 10 different loads, offer less felt recoil, more reliable ignition, improved shot hardness and excellent reloadability—all with the same world-class performance shooters expect from Federal Premium Ammunition. Features & Benefits • Two-piece wad utilizes SoftCell technology to decrease perceived recoil and produce more uniform patterns than one-piece designs • Rigid PrimerLock head improves primer sensitivity, ensuring proper ignition in the event of a light hit • Lead shot is engineered for the optimum blend of hardness and density for even patterns and maximum downrange power • Integral base wad maximizes reloadability 2. Fusion in 6.5. There's a new load in the FUSION hunting lineup, also from Federal Premium. Read how they describe it below. Federal's popular FUSION ammunition is now offered in a 140-grain, 6.5 Creedmoor option. Shipments of these new products are being delivered to dealers. FUSION was the first rifle ammunition specifically built for deer hunting—and it’s still the best, offering the largest expansion and highest weight retention in its class. It’s a perfect match for the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge, which has quickly become the choice of deer hunters who appreciate its long-range accuracy, flat trajectory, mild recoil and tag-punching power. Paired with the Fusion bullet’s molecularly fused jacket and pressure-formed core, the new load provides deep penetration and stopping power. FUSION is also available in 34 other loads from 223 Rem. to 45-70 Govt. Features & Benefits • New 140-grain 6.5 Creedmoor • Caliber offers long-range accuracy, flat trajectory and mild recoil • Skived bullet tip for long-range expansion • Boat-tail design maximizes ballistic coefficient • Molecularly-fused jacket around a pressure-formed core produces excellent accuracy • Best-in-class weight retention and expansion 3. Centerfire Shotshells. From Lewiston, ID, CCI Ammunition recently introduced some new handgun shotshell, featuring what they describe as larger shot for deeper penetration (*snicker*) and extended range. They are available in four popular handgun calibers. Shipments of this new product are being delivered to dealers. Centerfire handgun shotshells have long proven themselves as highly practical options for close-range pests. CCI has added to its one-of-a-kind offering with exciting new CCI Big 4 loads to extend the range and capabilities of these downsized shotshells, thanks to a payload of No. 4 lead shot. The resulting energy and patterns enable Big 4 loads to take down larger pests at longer distances, making them even more useful. Features & Benefits • American-made centerfire handgun shotshells • No. 4 lead payload delivers more energy and longer range than conventional handgun shotshells • Packed in reusable boxes of 10 shotshells • Available in a variety of popular calibers You can find Federal Premium online here and CCI Ammunition here. Ammunition selection is important, no matter how you're using it — or even if you're hunting bad guys in nothing but the altogether. Industry News. What are you seeing here?
