Arex Rex Zero 1 Slovenian Pistol Now Available in USA

It's hard not to want to at least try out a pistol called the Arex Rex.

The Arex Rex Zero 1 is a 4.25 in. barreled 9mm DA/SA pistol that can be operated in either “cocked and locked” fashion or in a more traditional (well, for this type of pistol) de-cocked DA/SA operation. The external safety operates in either configuration.

Imported from Slovenia, the weapon is built by Arex, which has been in operation for a couple of decades. They are an ISO:9001 weapon manufacturer that began as a tool manufacturer before shifting to what they call “…more unique products.”

The pistol was introduced to us a few months back and is now available for purchase, thanks to a partnership with FIME Group (Firearms Importer Manufacturer Exporter) of Las Vegas, NV. It has a 17-round capacity, and the safety and magazine release are ambidextrous. The frame is made from hard anodized aluminum using solid bar stock, and a steel locking block insert. The slide is nitrocarburized steel (also from solid barstock). The barrel is nitrocarburized and cold hammer forged, likewise build from solid bar stock.

Other features will include:

  • Slide-stop that serves as the de-cocker
  • Forward cocking serrations
  • Loaded chamber indicator
  • Full length slide rails
  • Picatinny railed dust cover
  • Large trigger guard for use with gloves
  • High profile white dot steel sights. Accepts SIG pattern replacement sights
  • Approved for all commercial SAAMI specification +P ammunition

It will MSRP for $599. Says Arex of the Rex 1S,

“The Rex Zero 1 pistol complies with strict military standards for reliability and has passed extreme temperature, hostile environment, and drop tests. The expected service life for the pistol exceeds 30,000 rounds.”

You can be sure we're working to get hands on the Rex Zero before it makes its way to an FPS game or a Transformers movie (or both). Maybe we'll build one of those evil trusts POTUS told us about and order it over the interwebz. Apparently you can just buy guns willy-nilly from anywhere you can get access the net.

Really. The President said so.

Anyway, if you're attending the 2016 NSSF SHOT Show, the Rex Zero 1S will be on display at Booth #11217. It will also be available for more practical, hands on demonstration at a private range event the evening of Tuesday, January 19, from 4pm-7pm (16h00-19h00L).

You may recall the FIME Group from their work with Serbia's Zastavia Arms, manufacturers (among other firearms) of bolt action rifles (including the Mauser). Another strategic partner is Molot, manufacturers of the Vepr rifle.

What is the NSSF SHOT Show?

The NSSF SHOT Show (Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade Show) and Conference is an annual event held by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Typically attended by thousands of people from all 50 states and over a hundred countries, it is (quite rightfully) described as the “…world's premier exposition of combined firearms, ammunition, law enforcement, cutlery, outdoor apparel, optics, and related products and services.
Imagine the Worlds' Fair, but packed with everything from mini-guns and every breed of body armor, bows and boots; from eye pro and ear pro to optics and ordnance, socks to swords…you get the idea. If you'd like to see a sampling of the companies who will be showing at this year's SHOT, there's a live map right here, though it doesn't reflect the organizations set up elsewhere, in hotel suites, etc
