Brownells announced it's releasing a line of six retro-inspired rifles, four AR-15s and two 308s. Whether you're looking to relive your military days or have something that blends vintage aesthetics with modern functionality, these offerings may be just what you're looking for.
BRN-601 Rifle
First up is the BRN-601. This is a reproduction of the Air Force 601. It comes with Nodak Spud receivers. Every rifle is test fired with 10 rounds. This particular model comes with the waffle magazine, triangle charging handle, chrome BCG, 20-inch barrel, duckbill flash hider. All the barrels are chrome-lined 1:12 twist by Ballistic Advantage. Check out more on the rifle here.
XBRN16E1 Rifle
Next up is the XBRN16E1. This is basically a clone of an XM16E1, circa 1964, and transitional model between the 601 and the M16A1. It has a partial fence, chrome BCG, three-prong flash hider. All rifles have Brownells reproduction furniture, no surplus parts. All these rifles have split washers instead of crush washers. Learn more about this model by going here.
BRN-16A1
The BRN-16A1 is the M16A1 clone. On this model that went to the phosphate carrier, they've got the full fence lower and A1 style flash hider. All these rifles are built by Aero Precision and test fired extensively. Get more info on the 16A1 here.
XBRN177E2
To round out the AR-15 line Brownells has the XBRN177E2, a clone of the XM177E2, which is basically the Special Forces variant. It features a pinned and welded flash hider/moderator with the grenade ring. The 12.7-inch barrel length with the pinned and welded flash hider gives you that legal length. It comes with the collapsible buttstock and two-position buffer tubes. See more by going here.
BRN-10A
The first of the .308 variants is the BRN-10A. It has a .308 Winchester 20-inch QPQ 1-10 rifle-length barrel assembly manufactured by Faxon. Receiver and action designed in partnership with FM Products are machined from billet 7075-T6 aluminum. They become available spring 2018. Pre-order yours here.
BRN-10B
The final offering is the BRN-10B. Like the 10A it has the “trigger-style” charging handle under the carry handle, flat slip ring, and period-correct furniture and flash hider. The Mil-spec trigger is compatible with current AR-15 style trigger systems and it accepts standard DPMS/SR25 pattern metal magazines. Pre-order yours here.
