Guns Christensen Arms Ushers Burnt Bronze Into Mesa Lineup Industry News December 30, 2017 Join the Conversation Written by Jacki Billings Christensen Arms rolls out a new Cerakoted version of its Mesa bolt action rifle, launching the Burnt Bronze model. Though the Mesa has been on the market for a year, the only available color has previously been limited to standard black. The latest Burnt Bronze opens up the color catalog and offers shooters a stylish option beyond the basics. Equipped with a 416R Stainless Steel barrel in both 22-inch and 24-inch lengths, the Mesa boasts a free float design with 1/2 x 28 thread pitch (thread protector is included). Christensen says the barrel has a featherweight contour and button rifling utilizing a match chamber. Available in both long and short configurations, Mesa’s weight ranges between 6.5-pounds and 7.3-pounds. Moving down the rifle, the action offers a skeletonized bolt handle and Cerakote finish which give the Mesa it’s charming good looks. The receiver flaunts an enlarged ejection port for magnum cartridges as well as an internal magazine set-up with 4-round capacity. Rounding out the features, the Mesa provides a Christensen Arms carbon fiber stock with Limbsaver Recoil Pad to mitigate pesky recoil. At its crux, the Burnt Bronze touts the same specs as the black just in a more tacticool color. “The Mesa was created as a premium, yet accessible lightweight rifle with a featherlight-contour, stainless steel barrel and a carbon fiber composite stock,” the company said in a statement. “Weighing in at only 6.5 pounds (short action) and carrying the Christensen Arms Sub-MOA Guarantee, the Mesa is the perfect rifle to carry deep into the backcountry.” The Mesa touts a bevy of caliber options for the discerning long range shooter including: .450 Bushmaster, 6.5 Creedmoor, 7mm-08 Rem, 7mm Rem Mag, .308 Win, .28 Nosler, and .300 Win Mag. Christensen Arms notes that the .450 Bushmaster variant does not fall under the company’s Sub-MOA Accuracy Guarantee in addition to featuring an elevated MSRP. While the Mesa delivers a price tag of $1,295, Christensen Arms says the .450 Bushmaster requires a little more dough, coming in at $1,395.
