People Cigar tools, custom pens and leather: Leather Cigar David Reeder January 15, 2016 Join the Conversation A couple weeks ago we talked about a man who handbuilds individual tobacco pipes. It seems only fitting we now talk about cigar tools and smoking accessories. The Leather Cigar is a click and mortar shop selling handmade goods like unique custom pens, cigar punches, custom leatherwork, hand crafted cufflinks, tie clips and assorted other things. The man behind The Leather Cigar is David Scott. Scott says, “I have always enjoyed working with wood, leather and other mediums to make unique one of a kind items. Having something handmade means you have something that was made with the passion and creativity of the maker. Making custom accessories for cigars has been a passion of mine. Just how every cigar smoker has his or her favorite cigar, their accessories also show their style and passion. Making custom pens, cufflinks and tie clips are made in the same manner showcasing the style of the owner.” Scott's cigar punches are built at individual customer request using real cigar bands or, if the occasion demands it, custom bands to reflect a business or an event. His leatherwork also focuses on the cigar aficionado with a wide array of leather pouches to hold cigar cutters, all in various leathers, hues and patterns. The cigar band pens are made with a real cigar band over a tobacco leaf cast in resin (custom cigar bands available for these too). Tie bars and cufflinks are similarly varied. Sometimes Scott's normal badassery gets ratcheted up notch. How about a cigar punch built with wood from the USS North Carolina (BB-55)? How about a case sewn from a Korean War musette bag? In fact, how about both together? We’re starting 2016 out right — we’ll be showcasing worthy small American businesses all through the month of January.
