CZ-USA Heads Into 2018 With More Suppression

Written by Jacki Billings

CZ-USA seems to be firmly rooting its place in the new year behind integrally suppressed designs. Following the announcement of the reflex suppressed Scorpion, the firearms maker released details on a new integrally suppressed set-up known as the CZ455.

Based on CZ’s 455 platform, the CZ455 barrel set boasts that integral suppressor design for some quiet plinking on the range.

Chambered in .22 LR and 17 HMR, the barrel will offer up two lengths — 16.9-inches and a longer 20.9-inch. Based on the Varmint barrel, the internal baffles’ patented design allows them to clear carbon from the threads as they are unscrewed from the can. The company recommends that shooters clean the suppressor roughly every 300 rounds. CZ says the baffles are constructed from 7075 T6 aluminum offering a level of durability to the design.

CZ’s switch-barrel 455 platform is interchangeable, allowing users to buy the CZ455 suppressed barrel and pop it into the stock. CZ says at the moment, shooters will only be able to purchase the barrel set — if a full-fledged rifle is in the future, CZ isn’t coughing up any hints. What the company has said is that the 455 barrel set reduces the already almost non-existent pews of .22 LR and 17 HMR.

“All you hear is the click of the firing pin and the bullet hitting the target,” CZ said of the new set.

CZ says can fans should expect to see the CZ455 barrel debut sometime in the first quarter of 2018, but no exact date has been released. The barrel set comes in under $400, but keep in mind that an extra $200 is required to get that BATFE seal of approval.
