SHOT16: Daniel Defense – new DD ISR 300

This is the new Daniel Defense DD ISR 300 (Blackout Integrally Suppressed Rifle). The ISR was originally introduced back in 2013, but it had a few bugs here and there, so DD went back to the drawing board to work out the kinks. The new ISR is touted to be lighter, quieter, and more accurate. The new rifle is built around a 9”, Cold Hammer Forged barrel with a pistol-length gas system calibrated for its integral suppressor.

The ISR’s integral suppressor extends the barrel to the NFA-required 16” in length, so this platform is not classified as a Short Barreled Rifle (SBR) and only requires one tax stamp (for the suppressor). The suppressor’s tube is finished with high-temp Cerakote-C and has a user-serviceable baffle core that is removable for periodic maintenance.

The ISR now comes equipped standard with DD’s long MFR XL 15.0 handguard, which features a continuous 1913 Picatinny rail on its top for mounting iron sights or optics, and also has Keymod attachment points at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions.

What is the NSSF SHOT Show?

The NSSF SHOT Show (Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade Show) and Conference is an annual event held by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Typically attended by thousands of people from all 50 states and over a hundred countries, it is (quite rightfully) described as the “…world's premier exposition of combined firearms, ammunition, law enforcement, cutlery, outdoor apparel, optics, and related products and services.

Imagine the Worlds' Fair, but packed with everything from mini-guns and every breed of body armor, bows and boots; from eye pro and ear pro to optics and ordnance, socks to swords…you get the idea. If you'd like to see a sampling of the companies who will be showing at this year's SHOT, there's a live map right here, though it doesn't reflect the organizations set up elsewhere, in hotel suites, etc.
