Happy EntrepreNewYear: Exodus Gunleather

Published by

Exodus Gunleather is a small family owned business located in Missouri. They build holsters in an improbably wide variety of materials, including (take a deep breath if you're reading this out loud); wildebeest, sea snake, caiman, American alligator, cape buffalo, assorted lizard types, shark, ostrich, stingray, hippo and even bullfrog. They currently offer 9 styles of holster in their online store, including both IWB and OWB styles like the Exodus Slide Pancake, Exodus Inside Scabbard and Exodus Dual Carry.

Carl and Amy Collins handcraft these improbably gorgeous holsters in their home in St. Joe. This would endear them to me even if I didn't admire gear (which I do, for a number of reasons). Not least among those is the fact that my great-grandpa Hartnett taught me how to fish in St. Joseph, circa 19774. Plus, I'm a Chiefs fan. But I digress.

We’re starting 2016 out right — I'm showcasing worthy small American businesses all through the month of January. Capitalism is part of the foundation upon which our great republic stands, and small business is a vital part of that. Join us in recognizing and acknowledging that truth and supporting craftsmen and small businesses. Happy EntrepreNewYear!

The husband and wife team, who will also build belts and mag pouches to match the holsters, advise they,

“…recognize the strengths that each brings to the craft of leather making and is conscious of those strengths throughout the process. Every detail in the development of a holster is examined to ensure the highest quality. While there have been advances to new technology in holster making, Carl and Amy still use older, hands-on methods to achieve optimum results.”

If you're on the lookout or a truly unique, handmade holster, whether for yourself or a gift, you need to take a look at Exodus Holsters. As they say,

“Exodus Gunleather is solely about the relationship of the client and their handgun.”

I like the sound of that.
