Learn More Oakley Standard Issue (Oakley SI) is a division of Oakley specifically formed to fulfill the needs of military, law enforcement, and first responders. Recently I went hands on with a pair of their newer products: the black Radar EV glasses with the polarized Prizm lenses. Happily, they also arrived with some gloves. This is just a quick overview, but you can expect to see more from some of the those attending the Trails Found course in the near future. The Prizm series of lenses are specifically tailored to fine tune your vision for different activities. Oakley has them for fishing, golf, the road, and more. Of course they also have them for shooting, which are the ones you see here. Keep an eye on social media for #TrailsFound16 for more. The Radar EV's feature everything you'd expect from Oakley SI like maximum visibility and breathability. Here's what they say about 'em. A new milestone in the heritage of performance, Radar® EV takes breakthroughs of a revolutionary design even further with a taller lens that extends the upper field of view. From the comfort and protection of the O Matter® frame to the grip of its Unobtanium® components, this premium design builds on the legacy of Radar innovation and style. -PRIZM™ is a revolutionary lens technology that fine-tunes vision for specific sports and environments -Path lenses enhance performance if traditional lenses touch your cheeks and help extend the upper field of view -Engineered for maximized airflow for optimal ventilation to keep you cool -Unobtanium® earsocks and nosepads keep glasses in place, increasing grip despite perspiration -Interchangeable Lenses let you change lenses in seconds to optimize vision in any sport environment I also received a set of the Oakley SI Lightweight Gloves. They fit nicely with just the right amount of stretch, and the extra grip on the pointer and middle fingers is a welcomed feature. From their webpage: The Oakley SI LIGHTWEIGHT GLOVE is mission-specific gear, designed for operations that require low weight with proven performance. Breathability is essential for warmer climates, so this glove combines span nylon with AirpreneÆ for maximum comfort. We utilize AX suede to maintain dexterity at the palms. A high-friction pattern on the fingers provides a sure grip. • Protection / breathability / low weight via combo of span nylon and AirpreneÆ • Dexterity of AX suede palm, perforated for breathability • Enhanced grip of high-friction print pattern on first and second fingers • Imported AIRPRENE JOINT PANELS Engineered for added breathability, Airprene is utilized in joint panels to improve fit and flexibility. This enhances both comfort and freedom of movement. BREATHABILITY Special textiles and construction techniques enhance breathability to improve comfort by reducing the buildup of moisture and heat. The resulting micro-environment is less favorable to bacterial growth, so breathability helps reduce odor. O STRETCH™ Combines the freedom of movement and comfortable fit of resilient four-way stretch with HydroFree™ treatment, a technology that repels water. HydroFree minimizes water absorption and moisture retention, and it allows the garment to dry more quickly. Both items will get a good shakedown at the Trails Found Event and in the weeks that follow, but already having a lot of experience with Oakley SI, I anticipate good things. You can find these items and more on Oakley SI's webpage here.
