Glen Stilson of Independence Training will go over “Dirt Medicine for the Armed Citizen.”
RECOIL: What’s your elevator pitch to people who ask what you do?
STILSON: We do emergency response training, teaching our students how to be competent and confident in taking care of themselves and those they love.
RECOIL: What is your area of expertise, as it relates to the event?
STILSON: Our dirt medicine classes are based on the experiences of all of our instructors, which includes battlefield medicine, Fire/EMS, wilderness first response, ER medic, search and rescue, and years of instructing.
RECOIL: What's your background and qualifications?
STILSON: I have been involved with the dirt medicine world either as a medic or as an instructor since 2000.
RECOIL: What can attendees gain through your instruction?
STILSON: Attendees to our program at Summit in the Sand will gain a higher confidence in how to handle immediate life threats in austere environments, and what to carry with them to help preserve life.
RECOIL: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten?
STILSON: That’s a tough one, I’ve been blessed to be around a lot of great people in my life. In this regard, let’s go with “Remember everyone who is supporting you and believing in you.” That was my wife, when I hit the first big roadblock in building my own business.
