Quartz recently ran an interesting article. In it they looked at Ukrainian citizens and the right to bear arms; due to the recent and increasing levels of violence there, firearms are being purchased in vast numbers. By the end 2014 the spike in sales of hunting weapons (the law in Ukraine allows only rifles or shotguns for hunting) had half a million people in the country as registered gun owners. By just March of 2015 that number swelled again by half to 750,000.
