Outta the Closet: Bite Size Spydercos

Spyderco has quite the lineup of knives both big and small.  Today we look at a couple we have featured in print in the past that slide easily into a pocket or get lost at the bottom of the RECOIL gear closet.

Spyderco Cricket MSRP $115

Overall Length – 4.75″
Length Closed – 2.75″
Blade Material – VG-10
Frame Material – Stainless Steel

When closed the Cricket with its S shaped blade forms a near perfect oval.  The knife incorporates one of my favorite lock types the frame lock.  This lock design was invented by the very popular and pretty cool dude Chris Reeve.  It gets rid of the extra bulk from the scale and lends itself to a very slim knife.

The blade has Spyderco's SpyderEdge which has some aggressive serrations making this knife a good hacking knife (boxes you have met your match).  The sharp curved point allows for detail work when a bit of precision is required.  The knife also comes in plain edge if you aren't a serrations person.  The pocket clip works at holding it in your pocket, holding money or even as a tie clip.

Spyderco Manbug Lightweight MSRP $75

Overall Length – 4.46″
Length Closed – 2.51″
Blade Material – VG-10
Frame Material – FRN

The Manbug was designed after the creator of Spyderco Sal Glesser found himself carrying the Ladybug most often because it fit so well in a pocket.  He decided that he wanted to make a knife that fit well in the pocket but was still able to cut far above its size and didn't have lady in the name for those macho men.

We gotta agree this knife feels great even in giant gorilla paws and came shaving sharp.  The Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon handle with Bi-Directional grip keeps the tiny handle in your hand.  The lockback locks the blade solidly open and the Spyderco Hole in the blade allows your thumb to easily manipulate the blade.

You can get some other awesome knives here like the Manix 2 (another knife we like), or you can check them out on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
