Learn More Make Raven Concealment Model Perun LC Fits Glock Gen 3/4/5 9mm/.40S&W/.357 Glock pistols with SureFire X300U/B, Streamlight TLR-1 HL MSRP $50 Further rcsgear.com NOTES With the release of the outside-the-waistband, light-bearing Perun, Raven Concealment presents a durable and fully featured concealment holster everyone can afford. The injection-molded body is made of two mated shells, riveted together with adjustable retention provided by a novel sliding-screw affair that Raven says won’t back out like in-line retention screws can during heavy training days. The Perun rides high on the belt for concealability and comes with accessory belt loops to set it up for 10, 0, and -10 degree canting. It also includes a set of spacers that come in handy when you need a little more room for thicker belts, or thicker guts. Wrong-handers rejoice; all the hardware is reversible, too. We like how light the Perun is, and how it doesn’t have a huge footprint like some light bearing holsters. We also dig the open muzzle for threaded barrels and the sight channel that accommodates suppressor sights. The sweat guards on both sides protect flesh and clothing from abrasion, but that tall, outside guard begs to be cut off; it tends to flex and slow holstering in some positions. It’ll also work with red dots and big-ass muzzle devices for you Roland Specialists … Make Armordillo Concealment Model Lux Fits Universal-ish. Glock G19, G17, G17L, G34 Frames (including the different calibers), S&W M&P full size, Walther PPQ Gen 1 and M2, CZ P-10 with Streamlight TLR-1, Surefire X-300U-A/B MSRP $70 Further www.armordilloconcealment.com NOTES Armordillo made its bones, or its shell, by making one of the first universal-fit, light-bearing holsters. Like Armordillo’s original Xfer holster, the new Lux locks onto the light instead of the pistol, allowing one holster to fit several similarly sized pistols. Any AIWB holster set up to carry a full-size pistol light, such as the SureFire X300 series, will crowd that most sensitive of manly areas and cause discomfort when seated. The rounded edges and adjustable ride height of the Lux definitely help in this regard. A beltline wedge applies some pressure, rotating the butt in to reduce printing. It comes with your choice of a wide clip, narrow clip, or soft loop. In theory, we like a holster with a solid grip on the belt for retention and a consistent presentation. But in practice AIWB holsters need to move a little on their own to prevent muzzle dig and telltale repositioning movements, and the Lux’s clips allow for a little movement. Make TXC Holsters Model X1: Beacon Fits Glock 9/40 with SureFire XC1 or Inforce APLc MSRP $70 ($85 as shown) Further www.txcholsters.com NOTES The X1: Beacon is TXC’s light-bearing adaptation of its minimalist holster, the X1. It’s a svelte package that accommodates smaller WMLs, namely the SureFire XC1 and Inforce APLc, and is barely larger than its non-light bearing sibling. Like the X1, the Beacon features a molded-in wedge that rotates the pistol grip inward to help concealment. This works in conjunction with a Mod Wing that presses on the belt, adding more rotational pressure to press that butt into your gut. Belt pressure sets the holster’s retention level, and the two-piece body is cut for maximum pistol versatility. It’ll take threaded barrels, mini-red dot sights, suppressor height sights, brakes, whatever. We’re glad to see the option for a second clip that helps stabilize the holster, important when carrying a heavier pistol. The base model comes with a single clip, but for a few bucks more you can choose to add dual clips, dual soft loops, or a kit combining all of the above for mix-and-matchers. The X1: Beacon can run appendix or strong-side IWB and has a couple of ride height settings. The default setting was a little too deep for us in the AIWB position, but dropping the clips made the rig more comfortable and offered a better grip presentation. We like the versatility of the two-piece shell, but holstering the pistol takes a little more patience since the holster’s mouth closes up after the draw. This is also one of the few light-bearing holsters that’ll still hold a pistol without a light attached. Make Standard Co USA Model Atlas (Light bearing option) Fits Archon, CZ, HK, Glock, Sig, S&W with SureFire X300U-A/B, XC1, Streamlight TLR1, TLR7, Inforce APL, APLc MSRP $139 Further standardcousa.com NOTES Standard Co has a new twist on the sidecar holster genre. The Atlas (it holds everything, we get it … ) is an AIWB, light-bearing rig using a strip of tough Hypalon fabric between the holster body and mag holder that’s, effectively, a hinge. This allows the two components to wrap around your gut while remaining absolutely rigid in the up-and-down department. With the two belt clips so spread out, plus the addition of Standard’s aluminum belt claw, this holster has stability in spades. Aside from branding, the deeply engraved, aluminum belt claw serves as a kind of serrated surface that keeps the claw in contact with the beltline as it turns the pistol butt inward. Wearing such a wide holster takes a little planning, especially for skinny guys. Even though it’s thin, there’s still a lot of mass tucked to your waist. There’s plenty of ride height adjustment to dial things in, and a few passes on the claw with a bench grinder will customize things further. Aside from the comfort and stability, Standard offers the Atlas in a host of colors and finishes that make the holster easy to separate from the rest of your holster collection.
