NOTES
Mission First Tactical’s entry into the adaptable holster market is molded thermo plastic slip-on affair that features a wide plastic clip to grab 1.5-inch belts. While the holster is ambidextrous, there are only a couple screw holes on each side for setting ride height. Cant adjustment is pretty limited, but simple and effective for most shooters running a gun from common AIWB and 3 to 4 o’clock positions.

Even with the retention adjustment screw set on the loose end, we found the pistol retention a bit on the aggressive side. With a bit of sleuthing, we figured out why. It turns out the belt clip screws protrude into the mouth of the holster enough to come in contact with our Glock 19’s frame. It’s not a lot of contact, but it’s noticeable.

We like that the holster’s sight channel is tall enough to accommodate some serious suppressor height sights, and there’s plenty of clearance for slide-mounted MRDS, but we miss the ability to bring the ride height up or down. We’re also not fans of a single plastic clip; it’s wonderfully convenient when donning and doffing the holster, but we worry about how it’d do in a retention struggle, or possibly on the dance floor.

NOTES
Little pistols deserve little holsters; otherwise what’s the point of carrying a summer subcompact when the holster forms a sweat-absorbing appendage that prints like an untreated third-world tumor? We set the RCS Morrigan for 4 o’clock, behind-the-hip carry using the simple, but surprisingly effective, ride height and cant adjustments. It looks like an appendix-carry rig, and it works well enough up front, but as we realized after a few days out and about, the Morrigan works well as a deep concealment holster positioned just forward of our wallet pocket. The circumferential angles, strap positions, and cant adjustment holes allow the pistol to sit very comfortably, and stably, in a slightly muzzle-back position. This presents the grip perfectly for an almost behind-the-back draw. We noticed the pistol oriented this way hugs the body a little more and prints less.

RCS uses a Velcro strap for retention, and we were a bit pessimistic about this setup. We figured the strap would slip off when pulling the holster off at the end of the day. Turns out that the end of the strap is retained by a screw, so it’s not going anywhere.

On the downside, we were disappointed that we couldn’t cut the spine of the holster to fit our RMS Shield MRDS without losing the top two (deepest) ride height options. It’s a small trade-off, but notable considering the growing popularity of MRDS-equipped micro pistols. Overall, we’re fans of the budget-friendly, adaptable, and very concealable Morrigan holster.
