Houlding Precision Firearms out of Madera, CA has released their HPF-15 Wraith Carbon Fiber Rifle. The AR-15 weighs 6.2 pounds with a HPF-NMX Handguard, HPF-ULStock, and Buffer Tube manufactured with 100% Carbon Fiber material. The production model of the handguard will be octagonal for an ergonomic grip and will include the Magpul M-Lock attachment system, so some imagination is required for the model in the photos. The Receivers are machined from (7075 T6 Billet Aluminum) and the barrel is a 16″ Lothar Walther chambered in .223/5.56 with a 1:8 twist rifling. In an interview with Chris Cheng for NRA Sharp Daily, HPF CEO and Founder explains how technology has improved rifle design, “Our CAD program allows us to enter the material used, in this case 7075 T6 aluminium, and apply stresses to the model to see if there is need for improvement. We can assemble the entire rifle virtually and check for interferences or any other issues that may present themselves.” Other key components includes a Geissele Super Dynamic 3 Gun 2.5 Pound Trigger, nickel teflon coated low mass BCG, Magpul Pistol Grip, BCM Gunfighter Charging Handle, and BAD Lever for ambi-control of the bolt catch. The HPF-15 Wraith is completed with a Cerakote Finish. MSRP is $2,499, but Houlding Precision Firearms is offering an introductory rate of $1,999. FPS Russian received an advance model, which you can see him put to use.
