InRangeTV is a long running YouTube channel with loads of great content, I’m a fan. They’re the madmen behind the What Would Stoner Do project and the Brutality matches such as Desert Brutality, Finnish Brutality, and the upcoming Midnight Brutality.
One new event they’re adding this year is the Handgun Brutality match, April 7-9th in St. George, UT.
10 stages will be shot in 1 day. The match design will reflect the Brutality mindset with a mix of physical challenges, brutal shooting, and unforgiving scoring. Scoring is simple, raw time plus penalties. Lowest time wins.
Minimum round count is 40 rounds per stage, so 400 per match run. Bring more if you think you might miss.
What sets these matches apart from normal handgun matches is the fact that everything is more challenging. You won’t be spraying down paper targets with a simple plan of attack. Instead, you’ll be hitting steel targets from a range of strange positions after doing a little Crossfit between targets.
From the Brutality website:
Stage design philosophy emphasizes shooting under physical duress in field conditions from often awkward positions. Unlike other action shooting sports, there is little to no memorization of stages/targets required. What is required is the ability to perform marksmanship tasks while completing physical challenges and being varying degrees of fatigued/uncomfortable.
The best way to get a feel for the match design would be to take a look at some of InRangeTV’s YouTube content on past matches.
Match fee is $225, and at the time of writing, there are 120 spots available. Participants are able to shoot multiple runs but require a separate match entry per run.
Class divisions are diverse and built to include everyone, from cowboy action guns to modern race pistols. Take a look at the full rules for more info.
Having personally only shot the Remote Brutality stage during the pandemic, I’m excited to see what a full InRangeTV Brutality event has in store.
