The newest SilencerCo-Hinderer Knives collaboration has a Skinner style blade. It comes out today and there are only 34 of them, so you're going to want to pay attention. Twenty will be in matte black, 14 in “Battle Black.” We expect these blades to be popular — after all, the last run (which had Bowie style blades) sold out in 5 minutes flat.
The new folder's full nomenclature is XM-18 Blackout. The name sounds like something the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics might have been working on with the US Army Air Corps to counter the Samolyot 346 (and we like that).
It's a Titanium frame and scale folding knife with SilencerCo Omega styling, DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) finish and black hardware. The 3.5 in. Skinner blade is 3.5 in. in length and of course the entire thing is built to Rick Hinderer's standards — which are formidable. MSRP is $650, which is a helluva lot of ducats for something intended for use as a tool…until you realize the last batch had knives selling on the secondary market for over $1,000.
The new knife is as good a reason as any, prob'ly better than most, to check out SilencerCo's website. Their post-Christmas sale is still in effect, with 30%-50% off assorted merchandise and accessories (that does not, alas, include the new knife). You should visit the Hinderer Knives website too. You can find that here.
