Gear Liberty Ammunition: a new management team takes the helm Recoil Staff December 30, 2013 1 Comments, Join the Conversation Liberty Ammunition, manufacturer of high performance, lead-free ammunition for military and law enforcement markets, has announced a new management team in key positions. The new team brings significant experience and expertise to Liberty's design and production. They advise the company is poised to experience exponential growth in the ammunition market. Liberty was founded shortly after 9/11; its sole pursuit has been the development of what they describe as the “world's highest performing ammunition.” The new team is headed up by President and CEO, Steven C. Torma, who joined Liberty in late spring, 2013. Torma brings with him years of top experience in systems management, global supply chain capabilities and best business practices in the ammunition industry. Torma comes to Liberty from General Dynamics where he served as their Vice President and General Manager for the Large Caliber Ammunition Strategic Business Unit. Early on in his career, Torma worked on fragmentation warhead technologies and 120mm Tank ammunition; of late, in quality assurance and program management for large caliber and conventional artillery ammunition. He has published multiple papers in the fields of ballistics, quality assurance and environmental remediation. A lifetime member of the National Defense Industrial Association and the United States Field Artillery Association, Torma is also a member of the Association of the United States Army and is recognized in the Who's Who Worldwide. “Liberty Ammunition has produced high-performance, lead-free, small caliber ammunition for almost a decade, yet the brand struggled, under-utilized and relatively unknown,” Torma explains. “This new management team brings a wealth of expertise in best business practices, ordnance manufacturing, quality assurance, finance, and sales and marketing. We’re bringing a clear and focused strategic vision that will make Liberty Ammunition one of the industry's leading full service ammunition companies.” Liberty Ammunition has recently filled other key positions including Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Senior Director of Manufacturing and Quality Manager. Kathleen Long joined the new management team as the CFO, bringing with her over 20 years of progressive accounting and finance experience. Matthew Phillips joined Liberty mid-year as the new VP of Sales and Marketing, focusing on growth in the personal defense, law enforcement and military ammunition sales through distributor and retail channels. Joseph Homko, new Senior Director of Manufacturing, comes directly from General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems and brings over 25 years of experience in the manufacture of military ordnance with senior-level responsibility. James Edwards rounds out the new management staff as the Quality Manager responsible for the development and implementation of quality, safety and security processes for all the production of the commercial ammunition line. Under the guidance of new CEO and President, Steven Torma, Liberty Ammunition has in the past few months already leveraged combined skill-sets to expand production and caliber choices, developing relationships within top distribution channels, increasing brand awareness and sales numbers, as well as tripling employment in the past six months. “Liberty Ammunition's new leadership team is focused on becoming one of the industry's leading suppliers of small caliber commercial ammunition,” Torma concludes, “and the customer's first-choice in high performance, lead-free ammo.” Liberty provides ammunition to the US military and our allies, to law enforcement and more recently to the civilian market for personal protection and hunting.
