Paul Nelson Farm is a world-class pheasant hunting destination located in Gettysburg, South Dakota. When you go to Paul Nelson Farm, you're getting more than just pheasant hunting– you're getting an all-inclusive experience. From the food to the wine to the lodging, trust us– the hunt is only a small piece of this luxury puzzle.
Earlier this year, the Nelsons wrapped up the final details of their newest addition, a long range shooting facility. When pheasant season is out, long range shooting is in…
The building's design is the work of Paul Nelson, who spares no expense in making his ideas a reality. The purpose-built building can be used for anything and everything an instructor or student may need.
There's a dedicated area for classroom instruction, wide open space to accommodate a lot of guns, gear, and people, and you can choose to relax with the doors closed or open them up with a push of a button. Having the ability to shoot undercover, and indoors is extra nice when bad weather blows in. Multiple TV monitors are available to connect a device, like live streaming cameras set up to view targets farther than the eye can see.
Recently, we attended the first long range shooting event at Paul Nelson Farm. Subject matter expert, Todd Hodnett of Accuracy 1st, taught the exclusive class. Hodnett rarely teaches civilian classes, so this event was a great opportunity. The 3-day class covered all the basics of long range shooting, as well as intricacies like truing your rifle with the use of a Kestrel 5700 Elite with Applied Ballistics.
In the video below, Hodnett gives a rundown of the new range at Paul Nelson Farm:
While discussing the impressive facility, Hodnett coined the term “Luxury Long Range,” and he was spot-on. Students were treated the same as pheasant hunt visitors, the experience was all-inclusive. With three meals and multiple snacks per day, we were left wanting for nothing. The five-star lodges were fully stocked with all the amenities you can imagine, and even some you wouldn't expect needing.
We'll be covering more about Paul Nelson Farm in the near future, we don't want to spill all the details of this event in one post. But for now, if you are interested in attending or planning an event at Paul Nelson Farm, check them out online at http://paulnelsonfarm.com/.
