Industry News [SHOT Show 2017] Going Deep – Magpul Performance Apparel and Softgoods Rob Curtis January 17, 2017 Join the Conversation After a successful entry into the apparel market last year, Magpul is moving to broaden it's clothing and product line to include performance wear, packs and other accessories. SHOT Show 2017: Going Deep – Magpul Performance Apparel and Softgoods Expansion The company hasn't released anything official, but clothing industry veterans, including a few from Arc'teryx Equipment, have taken positions with the company. “We knew we had to get our feet wet and figure out the landscape of the whole apparel thing, ” says Duane Liptak, Director of Product Management and Marketing at Magpul, “and now we know exactly what we need to do in order to get that business division to convey the true identity of the Magpul brand.” While internal moves are still being made, Liptak says the expanded Magpul product line will effectively be lead by Marc Elbaz, formerly Arc'teryx Equipment's Brand Manager for LEAF & Outdoor products, and Magpul's product manager, Jon Canipe. “We are building out this team,” says Liptak, “expanding our efforts and capability across the board.” The initial efforts of the new team will be seen in Spring 2018. As for the type of products we can expect from Magpul's expanded efforts, Liptak says, “We're going to be focusing mainly on the space between the hardcore outdoors and hardcore tactical brands.” This has been a special SHOT Show installment of Industry News What is the NSSF SHOT Show? The NSSF SHOT Show (Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade Show) and Conference is an annual event held by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Typically attended by thousands of people from all 50 states and over a hundred countries, it is (quite rightfully) described as the “…world's premier exposition of combined firearms, ammunition, law enforcement, cutlery, outdoor apparel, optics, and related products and services. Imagine the Worlds' Fair, but packed with everything from mini-guns and every breed of body armor, bows and boots; from eye pro and ear pro to optics and ordnance, socks to swords…you get the idea. If you'd like to see a sampling of the companies who will be showing at this year's SHOT, there's a live map right here, though it doesn't reflect the organizations set up elsewhere, in hotel suites, etc View imagery from our coverage of last year's SHOT Show here; 2015's is right here.
