In Cani Confidimus: Mountain Rottie Rescue

Mountain Rottie Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit animal rescue organization located in the Catskill Mountains of New York. Although they “specialize” (if that is the correct term) in the Rottweiler breed, they do rescue dogs of other so called “bully breeds” so frequently abandoned or mistreated. All of their dogs are fostered before adopted out to a ‘forever home' and all are up to date on vaccines, heart-worm medication and vaccines. They're all spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and temperament tested. Most of their dogs are rescues from kill shelters in the greater New York area but some have been surrendered by their owners and some, unfortunately, are cruelty-abuse cases. Animals from the latter backgrounds are trained and rehabilitated before adoption.

Mountain Rottie Rescue adopts out to homes in the New York, New Jersey, Vermont and Connecticut areas, as wall as parts of Pennsylvania and western Massachusetts — they will, however, consider adopting out to other neighboring states contingent upon volunteer availability. Dogs standing by for a forever home can be found here. Among them you'll find such animals as Nadine and Pooh Bear (above) and Kane and Roc (seen below). Kane is a 2 year old male rottie rescued from euthanasia; Roc is a big fella (140 lbs.) who is now 4 years old.

Says Mountain Rottie Rescue,

Kane is a dominant male so no male dogs, young kids or cats for Kane. Kane does love the female lab he is in foster with. Kane also loves his foster mom and the dog savy teenagers in his home. Kane can be protective of the home with strangers, so a quieter home without alot of people coming in and out would be best. Kane loves to play ball, and knows his basic commands. Kane is house and crate trained.

Roc is a 4 year old male rottweiler that is currently with foster family and seeking a great home. Big boy Roc is 140 lbs of platinum. He loves to be pet and when you stop he will nudge you and lick your face. Roc’s favorite things to do are going for a short walk, catching tennis balls and laying by the window in the same room as you. Roc needs an experienced handler and a quiet home without kids, dogs or other animals. He is housebroken and crate trained and never destructive. Roc knows his commands but is stubborn. Backyard must be fenced. Roc has been enrolled in training class and new owner must be willing to continue training.

Nadine is a 3 year old female rottie that comes to us from a local breeder that we have helped before. He is getting out of the business. His foster dad said she is a love bug. She tested well with the male dog she was introduced too, she met the 7 year old neighbor and did well with her too.

MRR is online here and on Facebook here.

You can obviously support Mountain Rottie Rescue first by adopting an animal in need of home, but also by donating (do that here) or patronizing their online store.
