Gear Mountainsmith and Burkard: New Adventure Photography Packs Industry News November 16, 2016 Join the Conversation A couple of days ago, Golden CO based Mountainsmith announced the release of a new line of adventure photography packs. They describe them as “tough as nails,” hence the T.A.N. acronym in their name: Mountainsmith TAN. Here’s what they tell us about 'em. Mountainsmith and Burkard: New Adventure Photography Packs Mountainsmith—craftsmen of iconic backcountry equipment and recreational outdoor gear—is excited to announce the launch of their new line of adventure camera packs designed in collaboration with legendary outdoor lifestyle photographer Chris Burkard. The Mountainsmith T.A.N. series is available now on Mountainsmith.com as well as ChrisBurkard.com and select retailers. The Burkard T.A.N. series, which stands for “Tough as Nails,” is comprised of five separately sold pieces that are designed to work together to create the most universal camera carry solution on the market. This new line offers an array of lens, camera, accessory and tripod carrying solutions that can be used separately or together as a complete system. The T.A.N. series Kit Cubes, which feature movable internal dividers that allow consumers to customize the way their camera equipment is stored, are designed to fit inside the Tanuck 40 for when you’re on a photography mission, and can be removed when you leave the cameras behind. “My goal with this series was to create something that I'd be comfortably taking on 95% on my trips,” says Chris Burkard. “I wanted to create a durable, multipurpose series of bags that work together to suit my shooting style, and Mountainsmith, a brand with a reputation for building tough, long lasting products, was the perfect partner to collaborate with on such a project. The main pack in this series, the Tanuck 40, was designed around the concept of a climbing haul bag; built out of Cordura, with a stand up bottom that makes this pack literally the most universal camera bag on the market. The Tanuck 40, combined with its side bag and a Kit Cube camera storage unit, is a system that doubles as an easy way to transport and carry gear for long periods of time, and can be used to shoot out of fast and efficiently at a moments notice.” Mountainsmith worked with Burkard to research and develop this product line from start to finish, relying heavily on his product testing input and outdoor photography expertise to design and polish the T.A.N. Series to perfection. Those listed in the new line: Tanuck 40 Tanack 10 Kit Cube Large Kit Cube Medium Kit Cube Small About Mountainsmith in their own words.
