Guns [SHOT Show 2017] FightLite Industries MXR and Bolt-Barrel Extension Recoil Staff January 12, 2017 Join the Conversation Pistol caliber carbines seem to be a big thing for 2017. We've received word of several different versions, and while FightLite calls their side-charging weapon the MXR Multi-Caliber Subgun, it certainly looks like it would fit in the pistol caliber carbine category (like that alliteration?). FightLite are the guys who previously brought you the belt – or magazine-fed Mission Configurable Rifle (q.v.). They've also recently developed a bolt and barrel extension for the M4/AR15 family of weapons — which we're also going to tell you about. No, it's okay. You're welcome. SHOT Show 2017: FightLite Industries MXR and Bolt-Barrel Extension Geoffrey Herring, President-CEO of FightLite Industries, says, “We’re really excited to bring these new products to market and topping the list is our new patent-pending MXR, a multi-caliber sub gun that is primarily chambered in 9mm and is caliber convertible at the user level without tools to include .22LR, .45ACP and other popular pistol calibers.” The compact MXR is suppressor capable and will also convert to accept a variety of pistol magazine types including Glock, Beretta, CZ, SIG and many others. We originally developed the MXR as a select-fire submachine gun in response to an international L/E requirement, but we look forward to bringing the semi-auto pistol and rifle versions of this excellent design to the US civilian market through our Distributor and Dealer network.” See that? Convertible to a wide array of pistol mag types? That'll make us happier than five fat people with triple dip chocolate cones — if it works. Fingers crossed, and hopefully we'll get a chance to try one ourselves. If you're going to SHOT you can find the FightLite Industries MXR at Booth #7406 in the LE section. While you're there, check out their new “high performance bolt and barrel extension”, which they describe thusly: “For over 53 years, the AR15/M16/M4 family of weapons has been overhauled from muzzle to butt, with a few key exceptions which are the most critical parts in the weapon and which have also been seriously flawed since the beginning… Introducing our solution which is the @fightlite.industries new patent-pending high performance bolt and barrel extension for the AR15/M16/M4! Patterned after our belt-fed MCR's sustained-fire bolt and barrel extension and featuring tangential radii at both the tips and roots to reduce stress risers and an increased shear strength area over the legacy bolt system, we've addressed the key stress points and stress risers that are inherent in the legacy bolt and barrel extension's square lug design. Appropriate for use in both direct-gas impingement and gas-piston weapons.” FightLite is online here and on Instagram, @FightLite.Industries. FightLite is a part of (and was formerly know as) ARES Defense Systems, Inc. FYSA, this the FightLite MCR: This has been a special SHOT Show installment of Industry News. It is not a review nor an endorsement. What is the NSSF SHOT Show? The NSSF SHOT Show (Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade Show) and Conference is an annual event held by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Typically attended by thousands of people from all 50 states and over a hundred countries, it is (quite rightfully) described as the “…world's premier exposition of combined firearms, ammunition, law enforcement, cutlery, outdoor apparel, optics, and related products and services. Imagine the Worlds' Fair, but packed with everything from mini-guns and every breed of body armor, bows and boots; from eye pro and ear pro to optics and ordnance, socks to swords…you get the idea. If you'd like to see a sampling of the companies who will be showing at this year's SHOT, there's a live map right here, though it doesn't reflect the organizations set up elsewhere, in hotel suites, etc View imagery from our coverage of last year's SHOT Show here; 2015's is right here.
