magpul glock magazine well

Dirt simple, dirt cheap, and made by guys who unlocked the code for super-durable polymer firearm accessories years ago, Magpul’s magwells for Glocks are a solid choice when you want to increase reload speeds without turning your carry gun into a giant, print-happy race gun. The geometry helps line the mag up and bring it home during stressful reloads and isn’t so deep that you can’t grasp a baseplate to rip the mag out, should you need to. At press time, Magpul announced availability of its magwell for Gen3, fullsize Glocks — models to fit compact Gen3 and full and compact Gen4 models can’t be far behind.

ETS came loader

There are numerous mag loaders on the market, and most of your plastic fantastic pistols probably come with their own. What makes the ETS CAM Loader a bit different is the way it allows you to fill magazines directly from the box. Well, assuming you have a nice Styrofoam or plastic grid insert and not a pile of rounds. You can load 10 rounds at a time, though we found multiples of five to be easier. ETS tells us that the CAM Loader will work with nearly all 9mm and .40-caliber magazines — a tall order indeed.

frangible ammo

Steel targets and pistols are the peas and carrots of firearms training; however, there are severe limitations when it comes to ECQB work. We heartily recommend you keep your distance when using regular ammo, but we’ve used Hevi-Shot’s new 100-grain 9mm bullets to within a couple of inches of the target, with no ill effects. Best of all, they’ve managed to keep the price within spitting distance of ball ammo, so go ahead and practice to your heart’s content.

advanced holster magazine release

Subcompact, self-defense guns are no-frills affairs. Ankle guns need to go off when the trigger’s pulled and send bullets where you want them to go. Past reliability and basic accuracy, people seem willing to put up with all kinds of stuff they wouldn’t with a bigger pistol — coarse sights, gritty 40-pound triggers, tiny grips, smaller calibers, and limited magazine capacity. S&W bestowed an adequate mag release on the M&P Shield, and the guys at Advanced Holster decided to improve the stubby little thing with a bigger, textured part that makes mag changes a bit easier when you’ve got bigger problems to deal with. It’s machined from steel bar stock, melonite finished.
