New M-LOK and KeyMod CMR Handguards from Centurion Arms

Breaking news from Centurion Arms — you may have seen a leaked pic before, but we're pleased to be the first to officially confirm that Centurion Arms will be releasing M-LOK and KeyMod versions of their popular CMR handguards. We have a pre-production unit in our grubby hands that we've photographed for this article. Note that production units will have quick detach (QD) attachments in the front and rear.

Centurion's original CMR rails are known for their slim profile and directly attaching accessories. Now with M-LOK and KeyMod, you can directly attach kit to your heart's content.

Shown here is a 15 inch M-LOK handguard. A 13 inch variant will also be offered (with more lengths to follow), and both M-LOK and KeyMod versions will be available. Centurion Arms will also make their rail covers as well as other accessories down the line.

Monty LeClair of Centurion Arms told us that he's a big fan of spanner wrenches, which explains the barrel nut that the CMR has come with to date. But he's fielded a number of complaints from folks who don't share that perspective. The new rails will feature barrel nuts that accept a standard castle nut wrench, a ubiquitous presence in armorer's toolkits. The old barrel nut is on the left and the new one on the right.

MSRP will be $240 for the 15 inch rail and $230 for the 13 inch version. They'll be available for pre-order at the beginning of February — keep an eye out as the introductory pre-order pricing will be $200 and $195, respectively.

What is the NSSF SHOT Show?

The NSSF SHOT Show (Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade Show) and Conference is an annual event held by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Typically attended by thousands of people from all 50 states and over a hundred countries, it is (quite rightfully) described as the “…world's premier exposition of combined firearms, ammunition, law enforcement, cutlery, outdoor apparel, optics, and related products and services.

Imagine the Worlds' Fair, but packed with everything from mini-guns and every breed of body armor, bows and boots; from eye pro and ear pro to optics and ordnance, socks to swords…you get the idea. If you'd like to see a sampling of the companies who will be showing at this year's SHOT, there's a live map right here, though it doesn't reflect the organizations set up elsewhere, in hotel suites, etc.
