New Steyr Arms L9A2 MF Pistol & 6.5 Creed Scout Rifle | SHOT 2019

Styer Arms came out of left field and dropped a revised L9 at SHOT Show. The new L9A2 MF makes the best possible use of the L9's removable chassis by serializing it rather than the plastic grip shell as was done previously.

The often overlooked and highly underrated Austrian pistol got a whole new look in the process with a more aggressive grip in addition to the change in serial number placement. Steyr was kind enough to let us take the pistol apart on the show floor to see first hand some of the improvements made to the L9A2 MF.

Since we are sure that the question is going to be asked, you will not be able to upgrade your current Steyr L9 to the new modular frame. Why? Because before this pistol the polymer grip shell was always the serialized part.

The polymer grip shell has been completely redesigned to not only add replaceable backstraps and side panels but also to add a ton of texture to the grip.

Steyr also added some nice detail to the front of the frame.

The L9A2 MF also gets a new Picatinny rail instead of the older single slot rail.

The rep that we spoke with at Steyr says that the old style magazines still work, they just get an all-new baseplate.

In addition to the pyramid sights, there will be a new TruGlo sight option for those that prefer a more traditional sight picture.

The revised Steyr M9A2 starts at an MSRP of $675 and should be shipping to dealers now. Find more specs on the Steyr website.

We checked out the 6.5 Creedmoor Scout rifle while at the Steyr booth. Ever since the days when CounterStrike reign supreme as the multiplayer first-person shooter of choice, we have lusted for a Scout rifle.

The new option is much the same as the existing .308 chambered gun, the only difference being the cartridge the rifle is chambered in.

With the ability to pack a second magazine in the stock of the rifle, the Scout in 6.5 Creed might be a good option for a survival rifle.

The new 6.5 Creedmoor Scout rifle carries an MSRP of $1,787 and should be in stores now. Learn more on the Steyr website.
