Nighthawk Introduces The Counselor at Triggrcon

Triggrcon 2019 had a number of exhibitors showcasing products. Among the attendees was Nighthawk Custom Firearms,  known for their meticulously crafted 1911s. While their table had a number of familiar faces in the Nighthawk family, there was a little addition that stuck out.

Meet The Counselor, an officer sized 9mm, brand new for 2019. The gun uses a 3.5-inch bull barrel with a full-length guide rod. The frame itself is made from aluminum and comes equipped with Nighthawk's Flush-Fit Magwell, which adds no additional length to the frame itself.

To accomplish this, Nighthawk cut an officer frame even shorter, added a channel for its custom-engineered magwell, and the magwell slides in from the front while only adding back the length of the frame it removed.

The slide comes equipped with Straight 8 sights, along with front and rear serrations. Of note with the front serrations is the manner in which they are added. The serrations are “positive”, meaning that they protrude away from the slide giving users a better grip than traditional “negative” serrations. If nothing else, they just look cool.

The Counselor weighs 27.9 oz unloaded, utilizes Railscale G10 grips which are allegedly the thinnest 1911 grips on the market, and has a bobbed beaver tail and hammer. This gun was designed for those looking to add something to their concealed carry line up.

In discussions with Nighthawk representatives at the booth, The Counselor will also be available with Nighthawk's IOS (interchangeable optic system). The IOS allows users to mount a variety of available red dots, including the popular Trijicon RMR. Of course, this is an upgrade, not a standard option.

As one would expect, the fit and finish on the gun is nothing short of excellent. A buttery-smooth slide and crisp trigger make this one worth checking out. MSRP starts at a cool $3,799 and goes up from there depending on what options you pick.
