Learn More Colin Furze — previously known for building a thermite cannon, Wolverine claws and an Assassin's Creed style blade-and-rope-launcher — has done it again. Now he's built a working hoverbike. Or maybe it's a personal size helicopter. Or maybe it's more properly styled a VTOL. (Click the image to watch it in flight.) The Plumber and his Flying Machine Evidently Fuze took parts typically used for parasailing — 2 motors and their propellers — and managed to create a small 2-prop rotory “hoverbike” that truly works — though there's no steering mechanism and no brakes. His effort is part of the UNLEARN Project. Says Forze, “What a creation, it's a unhinged flying bike/human blender but unbelievably it gets off the ground and actually FLIES. #Unlearn what a plumber can do in a shed eh? Considering the amount of time i've spent on this and the fact this is my first EVER attempt at making anything that leaves the ground this is well and truly a job well done, it's easy to overlook the true scale of what takes to make something like this work at all.” The project came about due to fan suggestions. Furze, a former plumber turned inventor and YouTube personality, took a few minutes to explain his intentions before actually beginning construction, including the genesis for the idea. “There was a lot of suggestions for things like personal helicopters and hoverboards and stuff, so with that in mind, I have an idea. We get two fans, propellers, whatever you want to call them, face them straight down, and…two motors, and then we'll have a frame of some sort, and then I will sit on this frame!” This just makes us want one of these craft even more. Hat tip: Andrew Liszewski. From the Let's Make a Flying Machine planning video. “Unlearn Mobility” they said so i asked you what crazy mode of transport you wanted me to attempt and the ideas came in bucket loads (14,000+ ideas) but the one thing you wanted to see the most was me to fly. So for the Ford Unlearn Project i'm going to attempt to a HomeMade Hoverbike……….Oh yes this is a great idea.” Explore RECOILweb:Friday Night Gun Pr0n: Boresight SolutionsCharacters you see on the rangeAerial Gunnery- Helo Shooting Hover GamesFive Finger Death Punch - dystopian rifle testing NEXT STEP: Download Your Free Target Pack from RECOILFor years, RECOIL magazine has treated its readers to a full-size (sometimes full color!) shooting target tucked into each big issue.
