One of the most unique booths at the Precision Rifle Expo was the McWhorter Custom Rifles booth. McWhorter makes hunting rifles, but these are not your average, everyday hunting rifles. Plain and simple… these rifles are a work of art and elite craftsmanship.
McWhorter prides itself on making rifles that are accurate and lightweight. Utilizing the technology of McMillan Hunters Edge stocks and custom action, McWhorter is currently producing rifles that weigh an astonishing 6 to 8 lbs, while still being able to hold 2 to 3-inch groups out to 600 yards.
McWhorter Custom Rifles produces custom rifles which are all 1/2 MOA guaranteed. McWhorter offers a wide variety of options for every component of their custom rifles. All fully equipped custom rifles include a custom action, a McMillan stock which is available in various designs (to include custom painted designs from McWhorter), a match grade straight 6 fluted barrel, a Jewell trigger, BDL/PTG floorplate, Cerakote metal finish, Talley mounts, load development and data, and a hard case for shipping.
Customers can opt for several additional products and services when ordering their rifle. Fluting options include helical/spiral, intermittent/interrupted, 10 straight flutes, and diamond fluting. Custom options include three position safety, recoil reducer, mag boxes, and custom bolt knobs.
In addition to the fully custom option, McWhorter Custom Rifles also offers what they call the “Standard” rifle. This rifle will have the following standard features:
The Standard rifle is currently available in 300 Win Mag, 308 Win, 7 STW, 7 Rem Mag, 280 Ackley, 6.5 Creedmoor, and 6.5×47 Lapua.
One of the most unique items offered by McWhorter is the .45 XML (Extreme Muzzleloader). After years of development, McWhorter has created a remarkable product– outreaching the capabilities of other muzzleloaders. Guaranteed to hold 1/2 MOA at 100 yards and capable of velocities 2750 fps, this advanced muzzleloader is leading its industry in accuracy. With the ability to shoot both smokeless powder and black powder, it is as versatile as it is deadly. If this sounds interesting to you, you may want to make a move soon, as McWhorter is only running these on a limited production.
Once your custom rifle is finished, McWhorter, who are dealers for Swarovski, Zeiss, Schmidt & Bender, Nightforce, and Meopta, can put the perfect finishing touch on your rifle by topping it with a quality optic.
McWhorter Custom Rifles is the real deal, and their love for custom rifles is apparent not only in the high quality of their products but also in the passionate and exciting way in which they talk about their products.
