We're going to be seeing a lot of new gear next week at SHOT, but today Gemtech has allowed us a sneak peak of something that they'll be presenting both at Industry Day at the Range and on the show floor itself. As you can imagine coming from Gemtech, it's a silencer. In this case it's a .45ACP can of the modular variety. We haven't had hands-on, but we do have some pictures and specifications to share with you.
Gemtech claims it's the “Lightest, Quietest, Modular 45 caliber silencer” available. Full auto rated, the Lunar-45 is modular, user-serviceable and comes with it's own take-down tool.
The listed specifications are:
LONG
Weight: 11.3oz
Length: 8.5”
Diameter: 1.375”
129dB at shooters ear*
SHORT
Weight: 10.1oz
Length: 6.9”
Diameter: 1.375”
136dB at shooters ear*
*Dry readings, full size 1911 230gr FMJ
As you may have surmised from the “Dry readings” portion of the specs, the Gemtech Lunar-45 can be run wet or dry, depending on which caliber is used. Gemtech tells us the Lunar-45 can be run with .45ACP, 9mm, 10mm (dry only), .40S&W (dry only), and subsonic .300BLK.
Gemtech also says the following:
The GEMTECH Lunar-45 is the culmination of decades of silencer innovation. We have created the lightest and quietest modular 45 caliber suppressor available that is able to be completely taken part and cleaned. The Lunar-45 is crafted from military grade aluminum and titanium for the utmost in durability and strength. GEMTECH offers a variety of mounting options for the Lunar-45 allowing it to be used on a variety of platforms and calibers. The Innovation, Accuracy and Quality is what makes GEMTECH, The Professional's Choice for Decades.
With a name including the word ‘Lunar' we couldn't help but perform a little bit of Photoshop–either that or Gemtech has been supplying the US Government with equipment for far far longer than we suspected.
Gemtech will be exhibiting the Lunar-45 and their other wares at SHOT Show next in Las Vegas next week, booth 20521. You can visit Gemtech online here. They'll also be hosting John “Tig” Tiegen, from the real 13 Hours in Benghazi for a couple hours at SHOT. Details below.
