RECOILtv Training Tuneups – 25m Barricade Drill with Pistol

When it comes to shooting pistols, speed, accuracy, and precision are the ultimate goals for any accomplished shooter. Whether on the range, in the military or LE scenarios, or even in competition shooting, quick, precise shots are required for success. Instead of standing 10 yards from a paper target and shooting groups all day, shooters can enhance their range time and test their abilities by running drills. Shooting drills are designed to help us keep our skills and fundamentals sharp so that when we need to apply them, even in sudden or uncomfortable situations, we can do so effectively. No matter what discipline of shooting you are involved in, it’s important to remember that your skills are perishable.

In this installment of Training Tuneups, Dan Brokos of Lead Faucet Tactical takes us through the 25-meter barricade drill. This drill takes body control, speed, and accuracy, and combines these elements to create a challenging drill meant to teach on-target shooting from a variety of positions and distances.

To perform the drill, the shooter will start at 25 meters and get two hits on steel. The shooter will then progress to the 20-meter barricade and get two hits each from the right and then the left from a standing position. The shooter will then progress to the 15-meter barricade and get two hits each from the left and then the right from a kneeling position (the shooter may shoot the left and right sides in whatever order they prefer). The shooter then returns to the original position at 25 meters and makes two more shots on the steel target. The goal of this drill is to hit all of the designated shots as quickly as possible.

How will your pistol skills hold up in this challenge? Think you can top Dan’s time? Run through this drill and find out!
