When you think of Canadian exports you think of maple syrup, apologies and Canada Goose jackets. Not knives. That’s the thing though, with so many giant animals in our largely unpopulated country, people had to build tools to protect themselves and get work done. This is where Lakonian Bladecraft comes in. Their knives have a Kali inspired background as Kos is an active practitioner. The designs are reminiscent of obsidian tools and weapons of the past. The ArchonHunter draws heavily from lessons learned from ancient cultures and the tools they used. The exotic recurve and stark point, while aggressive in appearance, are elements that lend themselves as readily to utility as they do defense. Both features allow the user to pierce and cut material efficiently. The knife is well balanced and feels natural in your hand. The handles are hand ground from G10 creating a positive grip when wet, oily or bloody. The steel, like that in most Lakonian BladeCraft Inc. knives, is A2 tool steel. A2 is a very high performance steel used normally in applications where high impact and wear resistance is a necessity. All knives have their own personality, philosophy of use, and influence. The Ascended Master is no exception. Its deep finger choil aids in retention on a rapid draw. This combined with the textured scales and multiple grinds on the blade leads to knife that is at home stabbing as it is slashing. The pommel is rounded to keep printing low and for comfort while carrying. Lakonian is of the mind that you need to enjoy carrying your EDC or you won’t carry it. From powerful penetration (heh), razor sharpness, and toughness to endure as much as the operator using it, the Bloodfeud encompasses it all. There's not much more a frontline armed forces member needs in a fighting utility knife. Based on a traditional tanto, the tip is reinforced but not so much as to negate delicate cutting tasks – a balance lost in similar designs. Contrary to popular belief in the cutlery industry, a beefier tip is not always better; a balanced tip, moderately reinforced, has a better chance to penetrate due to less drag, and less energy needed to push through. The steel used in all the blades is A2, hardened to 57Rc, cryogenic treatment applied, and given a special temper. Each knife is typically given a blackened or battle aged finish, as they don't believe in shiny knives in theater, especially given the fact that glare from a blade can been seen over 2 km on a bright day. Lakonian BladeCraft Inc. is dedicated to bridging the gap between fighting knife and utility knife. Their mantra “for Warriors and MisAdventurers” isn't merely to appeal to the commandos, preppers, and concerned citizens. It is a reminder of their commitment to blend the best of all worlds, and to strive to produce the finest “worst case scenario” tools around. While they don’t have a website for the time being due to their building tempo, they do have a Facebook page here and you can check them out on Instagram here.
