These guys from Texas are making some sick knives, and I love the naming schemes they use from 80s TV sitcoms, action shows and crime series—names like Miami Vice, A-Team and Magnum PI.

The Quartermaster Knife Company (QTRM5TR for short) is an all American knife maker creating hand- and eye-candy for the most discerning lovers of all things sharp and sweet. Founded in 2012, with a combined 25 years of experience in aerospace and industrial design, the goal of the QTRM5TR Knife Company is to design and develop a line of rugged, hand-crafted, American made knives. They work in limited quantity but ultimate quality, pushing the limits of design, technology, and manufacturing.

QTRM5TR operates an 8,500 square foot state-of-the-art facility that  was custom built from the ground up to accommodate their manufacturing needs. It houses multiple design studios, think tanks, medical-grade clean room and a 3 story-high knife museum.

For your viewing pleasure, here is the QTRM5TR QTR-5 Theodore “T.C.” Calvin knife Karambit folder. It has a premium BD4P steel hawkbill style blade, with a Texas Tea black stonewash finish. The handle utilizes the ball bearing ORB Pivot System for effortless and consistently smooth opening. The stainless steel frame lock and G-10 handle feel especially good in hand with refined angles and edges. The QTR-5 is set-up with a pocket clip for left/right reversible tip-up carry.

This Texas Tea folder is part of a numbered run of 300 knives (and there probably aren’t many left). A certification of authenticity and number on blade will come with the order.

The lack of ‘play’ at any point on the rotational axis of the blade is truly anything currently being made at this price point in the United States, at least that I'm aware of.
