SilencerCo Omega 36M | First Look

This past July, we visited SilencerCo's manufacturing facility in Utah and got hands-on with prototypes of their latest: the SilencerCo Omega 36M. The Omega 36M is the next step in the SilencerCo's line of flexible suppressors, and there's a lot going for it.

This two-piece modular silencer can be used on everything from 9mm to .338 Lapua. And while that's a claim we've heard a lot, having actually shot one of these guys on a .338 Lapua and never even considering additional hearing protection, we can confirm that it works very well in this role. And compare the size of the Omega 36M with the dedicated big-bore Harvester .338:

And on a 9mm? It performs very similarly to an Omega 9k. While the Omega 36M is slightly longer in short configuration than an Omega 9k, this is absolutely more of a rifle silencer that can play as a pistol silencer than the reverse–and we're absolutely on board with that. The following photo has the standard integral Maxim-9 on top, the incoming non-NFA Maxim pistol with an Omega 9k attached, and finally the same with an Omega 36M on the bottom.

The Omega 36M uses the Charlie mounting system (it ships with a Charlie ASR), so if you already have some SilencerCo mounts or one of the many aftermarket ones, you'll be all set.

Here's what SilencerCo has to say about it:

The Omega 36M is a two-piece modular design with a fully welded rear core and a fully welded front module. The core construction consists of Cobalt 6 and Inconel which provides extreme wear resistance under high heat and heavy fire. The titanium outer tube combined with the lock-ring prevents tube loosening and reduces weight. The 36M has a 1.57” outside diameter. The 36M is finished with a black Cerakote for a heightened level of durability.
