Learn More Smith Optics is going to be showing off some new stuff at the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference next week. Not just their Goggle Bungee Quick Strap rig seen above (and further below), but a new photochromic lens series for their Boogie, the Aegis and all their “tactical lineup”. That's good news for those who're looking for MilSPec ballistic protection and photochromic adaptability. If you've never worn Smith's polarized photochromic lenses you should definitely take a look at them. They are UV sensitive and self-adjusting, making it easier and faster to adjust from light-to-dark and dark-to-light ambient light conditions. That's a simple explanation of course, but it's definitely another great step forward (one of several they've made since Dr. Bob Smith began the ‘Smith Optics Battle Against Fogging' back in 1965 with the first thermal lens). More on Smith Optics Elite technology here. Here's a closeup of the Bungee Quick Strap. If you're going to be in Tampa for SOFIC, visit the boat you'll see moored down by Jackson's on Harbour Island. Smith Optics will be there, along with Mystery Ranch and Beyond. They'll have the new lenses, accessories and other things to show you. They're also helping host this year's 2nd Annual Gelande Quaffing Championship and charity auction for the All In All The Time Foundation being held on Wednesday (the 21st). Last year a combined team of Tactical Tailor, MagPul, Sig Sauer and yours truly were CRUELLY ROBBED by fate, thus allowing Team Mystery Ranch to claim victory. This year there are even more teams. it should be interesting to say the least, and it's for a good cause – last year's gelände quaffing match raised a substantial amount of support for the family of Brett “Shady” Shadel. Hopefully this year will be equally or more successful.
