Learn More This morning the Smith & Wesson Corporation released official word of their new handgun: the M&P M2.0. The new pistol is a striker-fired polymer weapon on an extended stainless steel chassis, available in 9mm, 40S&W, and .45. For those of you with sartorial concerns, it launches in either black or FDE. The M&P M2.0 will have a number of changed features from its predecessor, intended to improve ergonomics, performance, control, and durability, including an extended stainless steel chassis and what they tell us are a “…crisper trigger and lighter pull…” It will ship with four interchangeable palmswell inserts to more closely accommodate different sized hands, and two magazines. Here's how they describe the weapon's features and their intended purpose. With this goal always in our minds, the new product development team at Smith & Wesson tapped into more than a decade of M&P experience, performance data, and candid feedback from professional users when designing the M&P M2.0 Pistol – and it shows. When you pick up this pistol, the first thing you’ll notice is an extraordinary grip that feels great in the hand – and that’s just the beginning. From the grip, to the new aggressive texture, to the crisp trigger and audible reset, this pistol feels and fires like a next-generation model should – and more. This is clearly one of the most advanced production pistols on the market today, and we believe it is the pistol that consumers have been waiting for. The M&P M2.0 in 9mm and 40 caliber versions is in stock at our distributor partners and is shipping today.” MSRP will be $599. You can learn more about the S&W M&P M2.0 right here. What is the NSSF SHOT Show? The NSSF SHOT Show (Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade Show) and Conference is an annual event held by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Typically attended by thousands of people from all 50 states and over a hundred countries, it is (quite rightfully) described as the “…world's premier exposition of combined firearms, ammunition, law enforcement, cutlery, outdoor apparel, optics, and related products and services. Imagine the Worlds' Fair, but packed with everything from mini-guns and every breed of body armor, bows and boots; from eye pro and ear pro to optics and ordnance, socks to swords…you get the idea. If you'd like to see a sampling of the companies who will be showing at this year's SHOT, there's a live map right here, though it doesn't reflect the organizations set up elsewhere, in hotel suites, etc View imagery from our coverage of last year's SHOT Show here; 2015's is right here.
