Learn More One of the first affordable double-stack 1911 platform pistols, the Springfield Prodigy has a few new flavors since launch but this is the biggest change yet!Flatter shooting and easier precision is now possible with the Prodigy Comp! Available in 4.25” and 5” models, the Prodigy Comp adds a single port compensator cut into the barrel and slide.Because this does not use a threaded barrel and comp, the overall length of the slide remains the same. Also equipped with the Agency Arms Optic System, adding the red dot of your choice is simple with the patented plate system. The Prodigy tritium front sight is relocated behind the compensator so the resulting blast doesn’t interfere with the shooter’s sight picture. This is a small detail a lot of manufacturers miss, so it’s good to see Springfield thinking ahead like that.“The Prodigy pistol has proven to be very popular with shooters looking for the appeal of the classic 1911, but with enhanced double-stack magazine capacity and modern features,” said Steve Kramer, Springfield Armory’s Vice President of Marketing. “The flat-shooting Prodigy Comp adds the benefit of reduced muzzle flip and faster follow-up shots to an already highly capable design.”The new comp models come in 4 flavors, 5” Comp, 5” Comp 10-round mags, 4.25” Comp, and 4.25” Comp 10-round mags. MSRP on all models is $1,599Base Prodigy MSRP is $1,499 and the new Coyote Brown Prodigy is $1,550. Unfortunately, the Comp version doesn’t come in Coyote Brown… Yet. Each pistol comes with two magazines — one 17-round flush fit and one 20-round extended, with optional 26-rounders available for purchase. The original Prodigy review was extremely positive and for the money, the Prodigy has remained one of the better values in the DS 1911 world. We’ll be bringing a complete review of the new Comp model soon!Explore RECOILweb:[SHOT Show 2017] RECOIL Exclusive: Gemtech Lunar-45RECOILtv Training Tuneups: Setting Up Your EDCFriday Night Gun Porn: War Sport IndustriesAmerican Made: Oakley Standard Issue NEXT STEP: Download Your Free Target Pack from RECOILFor years, RECOIL magazine has treated its readers to a full-size (sometimes full color!) shooting target tucked into each big issue.
