Sua Sponte Foundation Raffle

As a guy who formed a company with the sole purpose of donating 100% of its proceeds to military charities I was happy to get this bit of news across my desk (or, well inbox). The Sua Sponte Foundation (SSF) is a registered charity aimed at supporting the Rangers from the 1st Ranger Battalion of the storied 75th Ranger Regiment. They have a couple of really awesome raffles that I would love to win (Damn you ITAR no love for us Canucks). Package A is a Salient Arms International rifle with a ton of top tier accessories and Package B is a Salient Arms International customized Glock with all the fixings.

The SSF is an entirely volunteer organization meaning its members are not paid. This allows for more of the dollars raised to go where they are needed and not some big wigs new Lexus. Rangers seem to spend more time overseas then they do at home. The SSF uses proceeds from their fundraising efforts and generous donations from industry partners to send packs over to deployed soldiers. These packs typically consist of some basics that the SSF buys like Oreo snack packs, Links beef jerky, Kind Protein Bars, Copenhagen, Gum, Wet-Ones, Skittles, Assorted Peanuts, Gatorade Packets, Apple iTunes and Google Play Gift Cards, Chapstick, Now and Laters. There were also some very generous companies that will be listed at the bottom of the article who you should go and give some love. Notes to the Rangers were also included from Memorial Day School and Savannah Christian School. These packs are sure to bring a smile to the guys at the pointy end of the stick.

The Sua Sponte Foundation not only sends things over to the guys overseas but help out here at home. The SSF was formed by some retired Rangers and patriotic civilians who wanted to give back to the Rangers of 1st Battalion and their families. They help with ensuring family is able to be with their Ranger if sent away from the area due to injury. They have made houses accessible for Rangers who came back with service disabilities. They even help spouses navigate the VA process and provide assistance if their Ranger has lost their life in combat. This isn't an exhaustive list of their activities supporting the Rangers and their families.

The other thing that the SSF does is the upkeep on a memorial site at the Hunter Army Airfield. Sites like this are not cheap to keep in good condition and take great effort to maintain site worthy of honoring fallen comrades. My Grandfather came from the Netherlands and children are assigned to upkeep the various grave sites from the Second World War. So to me this is an awesome thing for an organization to take up. If you're in the area or there are other organizations like this you should definitely see about volunteering.
