It occurred to me recently that looking at pictures or video from my friends' training sessions always makes me want to get back out to the range myself. Often it makes me miss friends I see only once in a great while — the camaraderie evoked by shooting together is a frequently underrated (or at least under-discussed) aspect of our demographic. This led me to wonder if a weekly installment of different training events might not be well received by others who think like me. I figured I'd give it a go. For this first ‘edition' I chose to shamelessly steal pictures from an album by Q Concepts. In it you'll see former SMU operator, Mission X cadre member and Alias training instructor Daryl Holland teaching combat marksmanship. Quoc Ha shot the pictures, Holland did the teaching, Chen Lee helped make the arrangements; all three are friends, so it seemed perfectly apropos (and #proofofgoethe). This isn't just because we should all be training (we should) but also because camaraderie is good for the soul. Going to the range (or shoothouse, or whatever) might just be one of the best ways there is enjoy the comradeship of good friends.
“In comradeship is danger countered best.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
You can look at the entire album (it has about another 50 pictures) right here on Facebook.
What are your plans next week? It's Sunday — that gives you 5 days to make arrangements to go loud with your friends, your family or a reputable instructor — hell, why not all three?
