SureFire is recognized for offering top of the line flashlights. They build both well-regarded handheld lights and some of the most popular WMLs (weapon mounted lights) on the market. They have now introduced two new WMLs to the X-Series of Handgun lights. The new models offer an IR illumination mode. The new X300V and X400V IRc WeaponLights are both mounted to MIL-STD-1913 Rails with a quick detach Rail-Lock System, so they can also be utilized on a rifle with Pic rails. Each light offers a 150 Lumen output of white light as well as a 120 mW IR illumination mode and each utilizes a proprietary Total Internal Reflection (TIR) lens that offers a bright directed beam with a substantial throw while also flooding the periphery of an area.
The main differential with the X400V IRc WeaponLight is a <0.7mW IR laser sight at the base of the light A bezel selector on the laser module allows the user to choose off, a laser only setting, laser and light, light only, and a secondary off mode.
All of the X-Series WeaponLights are manufactured with lightweight aerospace aluminum and a Mil-Spec Anodized finish. An O-Ring and gasket seal the lights to protect from the elements. The X400V IRc comes in at 4.8 ounces and the X300V is just 4 ounces, with both lights at 4 inches in length, and a 1.06 inch bezel diameter. The WeaponLights are operated with two 123A lithium batteries with a 1.8 hour run time on white light and 8 hours on IR mode. The IR laser on the X400V holds its zero with the use of Nylok screws that hold their position when firing. An amber LED light indicates when the laser is activated and can run up to 20 hours.
To activate either WeaponLight, a toggle switch is manipulated using your support-hand thumb with a press for momentary-on or a complete rotation up or down for constant mode. A push and twist of the bezel switches modes from white light to IR illumination. A DG Grip Switch or XT07 Tape can be integrated for use with long guns.
The X300V has an MSRP of $389 and the X400V IRc has an MSRP of $875. Both handgun WeaponLights are available for direct purchase through SureFire and their authorized dealers.
