Surefire Releases 2.4k Lumen Flashlight: The UDR Dominator

No typo there. 2,400 lumens. Now, you may have seen this before but now it's on the market. It's the most powerful LED flashlight that Surefire has ever released. They're calling it, ‘Dual-Fuel' because it can run off of its included lithium-ion rechargeable cell, or from a whopping dozen disposable CR123A batteries. There are multiple light settings, to include a strobe setting and also has a built-in, color-coded battery gauge. Like other Surefire lights, it's constructed of hard anodized aluminum, and includes O-ring and gasket seals to prevent environmental fouling.

Here's what the guys at Surefire have to say about it:

“This represents a significant milestone for SureFire and is only the beginning of things to come as LED technology continues to evolve and improve,” said SureFire Director of Marketing Ron Canfield. “It’s yet another first from a company with a long history of firsts, including inventing the first WeaponLight and the first tactical flashlight.”

With its ultra-high maximum output and a deep precision reflector to shape the light into a far-reaching beam, the Dominator qualifies as a “tactical” flashlight, given its obvious military, law enforcement, and border security applications. But it’s also well-suited for maritime use, search-and-rescue operations, or any other application where an ultra-bright, portable searchlight would prove useful. Along with its 2,400-lumen max setting, the variable-output Dominator also produces eight other useful output levels and even has a strobe-light setting, designed to disorient an aggressor, and a disable feature to prevent accidental activation.

Dimensions are 11.6″ long with a 3″ bezel diameter and weighs in at 2.4lbs fully loaded with batteries. Here at RECOIL we're taking bets to see who here is going to be the first one to mount it to a carbine.  MSRP is $1,370 and you can get one here.
