Temporary Restraining Order Granted Stopping Major Anti-Gun Push [Breaking-News]

CHRISTMAS CAME EARLY FOR OREGONIANS 

BREAKING NEWS: Gun Owners of America and the Gun Owners Foundation secured a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) in Washington state court, preventing Oregon Measure 114 from being enforced.

The TRO will be in place until a hearing is held for a preliminary injunction next Tuesday.

Oregon Measure 114 was passed by residents of Oregon in last month’s mid-term elections. The measure passed with only 50.6% voting in favor of the new laws.

Measure 114 has many parts to it, but some of the highlights are:

• Magazines over 10 rounds are banned 
• Permits required to purchase any firearm
• Required training course, application fee, fingerprinting, and duplicative background check to obtain the permit-to-purchase

Erich Pratt, GOA’s Senior Vice President, issued the following statement:

“This is an exciting victory for our members in Oregon as the clock was winding down on securing relief from the onerous and unconstitutional requirements this law would have placed on current and future gun owners. We look forward to continuing the fight.”

Sam Paredes, on behalf of the Board of Directors for the Gun Owners Foundation, added:

“We are grateful to Judge Raschio for his swift response to our request for a TRO on this draconian law, and we are fully prepared to continue the process as we request a preliminary injunction at our hearing next week. Like we have been warning anti-gun activists and politicians since the Bruen decision, fall in line with this precedent, or we will make you.”

This is big news for the people of Oregon and will, at the very least, give them a few more days to stock up on things like standard capacity magazines. While new magazines over 10 rounds are banned under measure 114, magazines already owned are grandfathered in.
