Learn More Gerber Knives has released a 10th anniversary commemorative edition of what they describe as their “best known auto knife.” The 06 Automatic was previously available in three configurations — drop point, serrated; Tanto point, serrated; Tanto point, and G-10 handles and serrated. There is another listing for the latter version with an NSN (NSN # 5110-01-516-3243). The commemorative edition will feature a stone washed S30V blade, 10th anniversary reverse flag laser engraving and a new OD green Cerakoted handle. It's a drop point blade that uses a single push-button to deploy, with a plunge lock and safety slide lock and pocket clip designed to keep it high in the pocket for an easy draw. MSRP is $185. Here's what Gerber tells us about it. 06 Auto: Tenth Anniversary Edition of the Best Known Gerber Auto To honor the heritage and time-tested durability of the 06 Automatic family of knives, Gerber introduces a special, commemorative edition of this military favorite. This knife celebrates a decade of service, developed specifically to support American service members deploying globally. With hundreds of thousands issued to soldiers and marines over the years, the iconic platform is a familiar favorite to many. The 10th Anniversary Edition offers a few distinct features: An Olive Drab Cerakote® coated aluminum represents the Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) of American Soldiers deploying early in OEF and OIF. A Stone Washed, Fine Edge, S30V blade pays homage to the unrelenting durability of the platform, battle tested globally. Unique laser mark. To commemorate 10 years of service, the laser engraving features a reverse flag. The reverse American flag originates from the action of early US cavalry and infantry carrying the flag into battle. Always charging forward, the flag would be seen with the stars in front and stripes flowing behind. Today, Army Regulation 670-1 addresses the application and wear of the flag on the uniform, ensuring that the “star field faces forward, or to the flag’s own right”. Rich in historical symbolism, the reverse flag represents the will and bravery of those deployed in service of the United States.
