The New PWS MK1 PRO Line

Primary Weapon Systems set the bar high for the piston-driven AR years ago. With their tried and true long stroke piston system, PWS has one of the most reliable piston guns on the market. However, the $1,500+ price tag of their MK1 variants has prevented many a shooter from owning one. That's about to change with the introduction of their new MK1 PRO Line.

The MK1 PRO Line has most of the high-end features and custom components found on the more expensive PWS models, including the PWS long stroke piston system, a three-setting adjustable gas block for configuring to various ammunition and suppressor combinations, a free-float MLOK handguard, rear single-point sling attachment, and a Radian Raptor ambidextrous charging handle.

With a retail price under $1,000, customers might be wondering where PWS cut their costs. The answer is the extruded upper receiver. Basically, PWS cut their costs on machine time. The MK1 PRO has a very plain look to it without all the attractive lines and cuts found on the MK1. A side-by-side comparison of the MK1 PRO against the MK1 MOD 2-M shows where the PRO is lacking in aesthetics, but in reality, the true beauty lies within the function. Bottom line, the MK1 PRO will do everything the MK1 will do, it just won't look as sexy doing it.

The MK1 PRO Line is available in the MK116 PRO Rifle with a 16.5-inch barrel and in the MK 111 PRO Pistol with 11.85-inch barrel. Each retails for $995.95. Both the MK 111 PRO and the MK 116 PRO can be purchased as complete uppers that will fit seamlessly on any standard AR15 lower receiver. Each retails for $649.95.

With such a relatively low price point and so many advanced features, the MK1 PRO Line might just be the best value in the piston driven AR market. With this new PRO line, many individuals and law enforcement departments that may have found such a high-quality firearm beyond the reach of their budgets will now be able to experience the function and reliability of the proven PWS long stroke piston system.
