Industry News: Forged in Fire on the History Channel

From the History Channel:

An original competition series hosted by weapons expert and U.S. Army and Air Force veteran Wil Willis, Forged in Fire features world-class bladesmiths competing to create history’s most iconic edged weapons. In each episode, four of the nation’s finest bladesmiths come together to put their skill and reputations on the line to win the $10,000 prize. They use traditional and state-of-the art tools to turn raw metal into authentic, fully functional implements of war. These weapons must stand up to the critical assessment and ruthless testing of our panel of experts, including returning judges J. Neilson, Doug Marcaida and David Baker, plus newcomer master bladesmith Jason Knight. In the new season, the forge heats up with all-new challenges that set the bar of bladesmithing higher than ever before. Champions from seasons past return to defend their title and fan favorites reappear for a second shot at victory and redemption. Watch as a fresh crop of talent emerges to see if they have what it takes. They all enter as skilled bladesmiths, but only the best will be crowned Forged in Fire Champion.

Here’s what History said about the new episodes.

The Pata

Over the course of three seasons, 26 bladesmiths have been crowned Forged in Fire champion. Tonight, prior winners return to prove who among them is the best of the best by forging a blade using canoe damascus. After two high octane rounds of competition, the two remaining champions will move to the final round where they must create a weapon known for its unique mechanics and deadly double-edged blade—the Pata. With $10,000 and their reputation on the line, which smith will survive the judges’ brutal testing to once again be crowned Forged in Fire champion?

You can watch Forged in Fire on the History Channel on Tuesdays at 10/9c or online at History.com.
