Triple 9 Movie – Monsters and outmonstering the monsters (somewhat NSFW)

Directed by John Hillcoat (the Road and Lawless) and written by Matt Cook, Triple 9 is bringing together one helluva cast for what looks to be the grittiest and most violent cop-and-crime drama (if that is indeed what it is) in years. Cast members include Norman Reedus, Kate Winslet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Woody Harrelson, Casey Affleck, Anthony Mackie and many others.  Remember the gunfight in True Detectives Season 2? The street battle in Heat? The corruption from Training Day? The footage of real fighting in Cartel Land? Articles and video of cartel activity reported on Borderland Beat? The upcoming film Triple 9 seems to channel a little from all, with its own dark and disturbing voice. Filmed in Atlanta with assistace of real police officers, paramedics and SWAT team members, the movie is set to be released in February 2016. It apparently centers around a bank robbery, the murder of a rookie cop (Casey Affleck) by crooked cops (Ejiofor, Mackie and Reedus), a detective investigating the Russian mafia (Harrelson) and of course the Russian mafia members (led by Winslet) working with the crooked cops.
